At the 2015 United Nations Climate Change conference in Paris, 195 countries adopted the first-ever universal, legally binding global climate deal, called the Paris Agreement. The Agreement sets out an ambitious global action plan to avoid dangerous climate change by limiting global warming to well below 2°C (pursuing efforts to limit temperature increase to 1.5°C). It also commits countries to a range of adaptation activities to strengthen societies’ ability to deal with the impacts of climate change. The panel will discuss the implications of the Agreement for adaptation policy for the regional, national and sub-national governments and business.
