Dr. Janie Maxwell is a General Practitioner and an academic at the Nossal Institute for Global Health at the University of Melbourne. Janie’s interest in health equity and sustainability underpin her work which spans clinical practice, research and teaching. Janie’s academic work focuses on the nexus between climate change and health: her current research explores the role of the health profession and medical education in climate change. As a clinician, Janie combines metropolitan general practice with remote indigenous health work. Janie recently co-authored a book chapter: Mental health, the forgotten NCD in Dancing in the Rain: living with NCDs. Janie is a fellow of the Centre for Sustainability Leadership and has been a member of national and state working groups with Doctors for the Environment Australia and the Climate and Health Alliance.
