Dr Wise is a Sustainability Economist at CSIRO, Australia. Over the last 12 years Russ has led interdisciplinary research programs in South Africa and Australia focused on building stakeholders’ capacities to understand and respond to unprecedented global changes in climate, ecosystems, technology and economic development. In doing so, Russ has led the development of novel approaches to collaboratively designing and implementing original concepts, tools and processes such as adaptation pathways to support decision makers recognise and overcome institutional, knowledge and behavioural barriers to long-term planning and decision-making under uncertainty. Russ has experience in adaptation planning in Australia, PNG and Indonesia.
