Professor Brian Kelly is Dean of Medicine – Joint Medical Program and Head of the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle. He is also Professor of Psychiatry and Co-Director of the Priority Research Centre for Brain and Mental Health Research. Professor Kelly has a longstanding background in clinical research addressing the psychosocial aspects of cancer and palliative care, including identification of psychosocial needs, health service models and implementation, educational strategies to promote practice change, alongside an interest in health care needs and services in rural and remote regions. He has over 25 years experience as a clinician in the field of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry with a focus on oncology and palliative care. He has achieved over 240 publications including over 170 peer reviewed papers to date and 15 book chapters.
